It’s November! Winter is coming. The midterms are coming (have you voted yet?). And so are warm cups of tea – all day long, cozy robes, down jackets, and fleece blankets. It’s not either/or, it’s both/and. We need to be in reality, in this current phase of the year, and this current time in history, AND we need to find warmth, and ways to self-soothe and connect.
In a world that can sometimes feel cold or bitter, and easy to turn away from (or get numb to), it is all the more important to be able to generate warmth from within, and through connection. Warmth makes us feel good. Studies have shown that simply holding a warm beverage in your hand makes you friendlier to a new person and more likely to be friendly and generous to yourself. Next time you have a sip of a warm beverage, take a moment to notice how it feels. Just stopping to experience the warmth can create positive pathways in your brain.
What is it that warms YOU up? Is it hot cocoa, or coffee, a hand on your heart, or your favorite animal? What places warm you up? What yoga poses warm you up? What people warm you up?
We hope that 8 Limbs is a place that you feel warmth. Our teachers and staff have a genuine desire to support your yoga practice and make 8 Limbs a second home.
