Who/what are your teachers? My most influential teachers are based in Australia where I lived and studied for some years.
Hobbies/interests: Hiking, Cooking, Gardening, Travel, the Arts, and of course Yoga & Ayurveda.
What non-yoga book are you reading/did you recently read? Beyond the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo
Yoga book you recommend: Bringing Yoga to Life by Donna Farhi
Favorite yoga practice/pose and why: I love experiencing strength and flexibility in flowing dynamic practices. I also love meditative slow practices, restoratives and sitting in meditation. A favorite posture – I love holding & breathing and extending evenly in downward dog!
One secret that helps you stay healthy: Daily self Abhyanga (Ayurvedic oil massage)
Currently inspired by: My sweet energetic 5 year old! I love his way in this life. He is creative, imaginative & completely alive & awake in the present moment.
Favorite recipe?
Ayurvedic Recipe: Coconut-Cilantro Chutney
This recipe balances all 3 doshas, contains all 6 tastes and adds delicious flavor to your meal. Enjoy on the side of kitchari, curry, samosas or rice.
1 cup coconut, freshly grated or dry
1 bunch cilantro
1⁄2 medium avocado
2 inches fresh ginger root
1 inch fresh turmeric root (or 1⁄2 tsp powder)
1⁄2 tsp cumin seeds
1-2 Tbsp honey
Juice of 1 lime
1/4 tsp salt
8 fresh curry leaves (optional)
Water, as needed
* Grind all ingredients together in blender or food processor. Serve fresh and store remainder in fridge.
