This spring has been miraculous. The trees and flowers are literally exploding with fluffy scent-bombs! Many of us have been able to get out more, spreading our wings as the world opens up bit by bit.
This change comes with challenges. There is still risk, a great deal of unknown, and the fact that we are human beings with nervous systems programmed to see change as a threat! We’ve worked with some of our favorite yoga teachers around the country to offer classes to help you settle your system in this transition:
- Shari Friedrichsen: Yoga for Strength & Rejuvenation tomorrow at 10am.
- Jenny Hayo: Art of Breathing series starting May 12
- Gary Kraftsow: Yoga for the Autonomic Nervous System with afocus on sleeplessness, anxiety & depression) May 13, 20 & 27
- Michelle Johnson‘s June 4-6 offerings explain themselves:
- Skill in Action: Responding to Unsettling and Uncertain Times
- Finding Refuge: Teachings from the Bhagavad Gita & Heartwork to Heal Collective Grief
- Tracee Stanley: Radiant Rest: A Path to Deep Relaxation + Freedom will draw from Tracee’s new book about Yoga Nidra called Radiant Rest.
Throughout April we’ve been prepping the studios to be ready to safely reopen. We look forward to bringing our team and teachers back to greet you, and are preparing a limited schedule of in-studio classes that will launch in May if the Governor maintains Phase 3 for King County in his press conference on May 3. We will continue to update you as we draw closer to opening. And yes, Livestream will continue and evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.
8 Limbs is saying goodbye to a longtime and beloved 8Limbs team member, Lauren Kite. Lauren started at 8 Limbs over a decade ago in our work-study program. Over the years she moved up through pretty much all of our admin positions to become Director of Studio Operations, in addition to being a stellar yoga teacher. Lauren is moving on to focus on her social and racial justice consulting work. She will be greatly missed.
We are super excited to welcome two of our yoga teachers to our admin team:
Karen Gamble, another longtime 8 Limb-er, has joined the Programming & Education team at 8 Limbs. Karen started at 8 Limbs in the late ’90s as a student and joined our teaching staff ten years ago. Karen has taken over the weekly class schedule including adding in-studio and outdoor classes in the coming months. Meet her on the mat Tues/Thurs at 9:30am, Tuesdays at 7:15pm and Saturdays at 9:00am!
Find Sumedha on 8 Limbs Livestream Sundays at 6pm and in her current Pranayama Intensive Series!
