Saturday, 10am – 1pm   Patanjali’s 8 Limbs of Yoga: The Foundational Support

This first class will focus on building a foundation of Asana and Pranayama, with the Yamas and Niyamas as key points throughout. There are particular asana and pranayama practices that support and sustain a regular and deepening meditation experience. These practices are not just foundational, but necessary components for the more rewarding aspects of meditation. The 8 Limbs were never meant to be separate. They are part and parcel of the whole of yoga practice. We have often considered them separately to better understand each aspect, but the promise of yoga is the interweaving and interconnectedness of the 8 Limbs that culminate in Samadhi.

Sunday 10am – 1pm  Patanjali’s 8 Limbs of Yoga: The Continuum of Practice

Based on the guidance of the Yoga Sutras, built on the foundation and interwoven practices of the yamas, niyamas, asana and pranayama, this class will have a greater focus on the inclusive nature and practices of Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), Dharana (focus) and Dhyana (meditation). Through the wisdom, understanding and study of the first 7 limbs, practiced regularly with respect and intention, we will experience how yoga gives us the tools and means to guide us towards the freedom and fulfillment of Samadhi.
