I’m Kind of a Big Deal because: All due respect to the intent, I’m not a Big Deal. But I am humbled that at nearly 49 I’m healthier and more vital than I’ve ever been. Time on the mat has exponentially contributed to the expansion of my heart and mind and I have become a better everything: mother, friend, teacher, girlfriend soon to be wife, explorer, writer, musician….Practicing Yoga is Kind of a big deal!
Hobbies/interests: Writing, Yoga, Cooking, Yoga, Family, Yoga, Friends, Yoga, Biking, Yoga, Shrub Steppe Restoration, Yoga, Education, Yoga, Music, Yoga
Favorite yoga practice/pose and why: All poses are my favorite pose. After nearly four years of average 4-6 classes a week, I am able to feel my entire feet rooted under me when I stand and walk. I can feel my lower spine roll down on the mat, every single disk, even those ones at the bottom near your butt. The bandhas rule. My toes move independently of one another and I don’t need antidepressants anymore.
Movie/book that changed your life: Omnivore’s Dilemna and Cooked by Michael Pollan but there are too many to name. My life is changed by nearly every book I read.
One secret that helps you to stay healthy is: Yoga. Cat out of bag.
Currently inspired by: Yoga and the people who practice it, Writers who write books. Artists who make art. Musicians who make music. People who cook dinner at home. My kids.
