More than a year ago we held one of our 8 Limbs Teacher Meetings. I asked our teachers “what makes 8 Limbs special? Why do people choose 8 Limbs?” In a city FULL of terrific yoga, it’s important for us to know what makes 8 Limbs stand out, what makes us worth the walk/drive/bike/bus, and why people would choose to practice with us.
There were as many reasons as there were people. And that’s the foundation of our mission:
“We recognize that each individual is unique and has a different approach to life. Thankfully there are many ways to practice yoga. At 8 Limbs we embrace diversity over dogma.”
The power of that meeting lingered. This fall we decided to take all of the teacher’s comments and choose 8 (for obvious reasons) to shout out to the world. We have a great thing going on in our neighborhood studios, and we want to make sure everyone knows it!

Reason 6: Instruction that meets you at your level.
At 8 Limbs, we think of ourselves as a school of yoga. We want you to learn about this practice, not just do it. The programs that have developed at 8 Limbs have grown with our students, to keep offering more and more opportunities to learn, such as our 200 and 500-hour Teacher Trainings, and our free Many Paths Teacher Panels (next one Sunday, June 2 at 6:30pm, on non-attachment).
Our drop-in schedules are designed to give options for yoga practitioners of all levels to find their place, their class(es), their teacher(s). From Intro Series, to Level III classes, there’s a teacher at 8 Limbs that will meet the level of interest and proficiency of any practitioner. To support folks in different phases of life, we have a full program of Prenatal, Postnatal, and Yoga for 50+ classes, as well as Back Care, Restorative Series, which can all be foundd on our website under Series & Events.
For those brand new to yoga, or interested in brushing up on the basics, we offer Intro Series at all four studios. This is the place to learn the foundational poses and practices of yoga, from ujjayi breath to downward facing dog. Many people take multiple Intro Series to strengthen their understanding.
And then there are our ever-evolving list of Workshops, where you can learn about the Yoga Sutras, Flow Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, and so much more. And if we aren’t meeting you at your level of interest or challenge, let us know at email@example.com.
